Sustainable food access

Fresh produce in local shopThe sustainable food access strand works with local convenience stores in deprived areas of London to improve access to healthy, affordable and sustainably produced food. The project is managed by Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming and is partnered with Well London and Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust to target areas most in need.

The project works to support retailers to increase the range and quality of fresh produce sold via business support, shop improvements, training in fresh produce retailing and improved supply. The project also aims to increase local demand for healthy and sustainable food through co-ordinated local marketing campaigns and promotions.
